    Can't wait to sew this!
    I want to provide a tip that might make the sewing easier. I learned this from antique patterns of the 1930s. To join the lower half to the gathered top half, you can fold under the seam allowance of the lower half, baste it over the upper half, then topstitch. The raw edges can be pinked or overcast.
    This method was used in so many antique silk slips and dresses. I love it because it means I don't have to maneuver the complex shapes under the sewing machine before flipping them right side out.

    I wanted to buy the Ana Lucia dress and came across this pattern too! Lucky for me I needed a project for some fabric my mother in law gifted me, so I just bought both dresses! Just finished the Ana Lucia Dress and now I’m starting this one 🤩. I’m obsessed

    The short version is sporty, the long version is chique. Personally I would go with the long version, since I like my dresses and skirts to be over my knees.

      I usually also wear longer dresses and skirts, I find them a bit more comfortable. But summer here is so hot, it's impossible hahaha 😆

    Hi, I wanted to share my feedback relating to the pattern that I bought. I cut out a size 6 pattern and made a dress, but the bust line looked pretty off- the front bodice pattern had to be at least 1 - 2 inches longer in order to not end mid-bust (also, I'm only 5'3 and my bust is not very large, so it's really weird). I hope the patterns were tested by larger women.

    Is there a LOVE BUTTON?!
    Long story short..
    I decided to go back to school for pattern making and draping 🥰 HOWEVER it took half the semester and a lot of 😵‍💫 before I realized that I had enrolled in the -advanced- class without taking the intermediate class first!! Aka the one that teaches you all the basics.
    So here I am.. Thursday eve and have not 1 but 2 garments to make FROM SCRATCH that are due next week 😮 and wouldn’t you know that the dress I planned on making was this one!! 🎊😅
    So.. 👀 I may. Or may not be buying your pattern to “experiment” with 🤫
    GOD SEND
    Nuff said.

    Hello! I bought this pattern yesterday and am excited to make it with some red poly peachskin for an event. I put the pattern together and noticed there's no marking on the front bodice piece for where the gathering line on the bust should begin and end. Do you have a recommended measurement for this?

    Hey I would like to recreate your beautiful dress using you pattern! Before I start I would like to ask a question: Would you recommand mixing the sizes for the top and the skirt? I wear S/M for tops and M/L for bottom (small bust but wide hips) 😅 Do you think it would work to mix the two sizes for this pattern or should i just widen the skirt eyeballing? Thanks for you help and the great tutorial!

    • @coralinestreet
      @coralinestreet  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hmm the skirt actually has quite some ease around the hips, but if you'd like, I can show you how to make it even more flared out! You can send me a DM on insta and I'll walk you through the process of altering it. I would recommend getting the right size for your bust/waist and just flaring out the skirt yourself instead of mixing sizes!

    Hi, I bought your pattern on Etsy recently! For the bodice pieces you said to measure the distance to the selvage to make sure they are placed properly -- what do you mean by that, and measure where/how much? Thank you

    If my fabric is too narrow for the skirt pieces to fit on a 45 degree fold how should I find the bias?

    • @coralinestreet
      @coralinestreet  11 месяцев назад +2

      Hi my dear! Do you happen to own a set-square at home? Those triangle rulers? That would make it easier to find the angle. I find it hard to explain it in English because it's not my mother tongue, but it would basically be a math explanation. The corner of a book (or the corner of a piece of fabric that was cut straight) has 90°. You need to find the angle right in the middle. That's why folding the fabric helps because it shows you where that is.
      Even if the pattern doesn't fit, if you don't have a set-square at home, try folding the fabric as I show in the video and ironing it. That crease will be the exact 45° angle, the bias. If you need to move the pattern piece to the left or to the right, use that line as a guide.
      But if you can't fit the pattern piece on the fold, I think you wouldn’t be able to fit it on the bias without the fold anyway. You can try that and let me know.
      So, the best way would be to get fabric that fits the pattern piece. 140cm wide (and wider) fabrics will fit it properly, I have tested it. But if it's way thinner than this, it might not fit. If you share with me de dimensions of your fabric and the size you plan on making, I can try to figure out a way to fit it. But for some projects, you do need wider fabric. There's no way around it :/

      Hi thank you for responding! Yes I think it won’t fit. I will try just making the dress shorter!

    • @coralinestreet
      @coralinestreet  9 месяцев назад +2

      No, I haven't found one! I usually make my patterns myself, I'm not used to buying them.
      Are you only interested in purchasing a pattern? Or would it be helpful to you if I made a video showing how to draft it yourself? I checked out the dress and it doesn't seem complicated to make. It's a bias cut dress as well, but with a boat neck and long sleeves. If you would like me to make a video about it, let me know. It just might take a little bit of time, because I have other things lined up at the moment.
      Or I can write down the steps on how to draft it yourself as well. That would definetly be quicker. Let me know.
